Auslan Level 1 – Beginners

You can get an easy and fun introduction to Auslan or just consolidate your basic knowledge with the beginner’s course. No prior experience is necessary.

You have two options to start your learning with Level 1 Auslan course – to attend the community based 6 week course with your friends or you can enrol in our Auslan Online courses to learn Auslan at home or at work at your own pace. The online course is made up of prerecorded videos so you can enrol anytime. Once you’ve completed your online enrolment you will have full and immediate access with no restrictions on how many times you can watch the videos nor is there a time limit on the course. It is yours to keep forever.

Our Level 1 beginner course is the perfect opportunity to begin your journey into learning Auslan and about the Deaf Community.

Community Classes

In our 6 week Auslan beginner course, you will learn to communicate with deaf and hard of hearing people in this fun and practical community based course.

Through games, activities, group and pair work you will develop the ability to sign in a range of social and workplace settings.

As part of the course you will receive a course workbook with pictures of every sign taught in the course, along with set sentences to practice signing with. You will also receive a Certificate of Attendance with the number of hours you have undertaken.

Some of the 16 categories of signs that we will teach you in level 1 include: Questions, Greetings, Deaf Related, Phrases, Instructions, Numbers, Food and Drink, Family, Emotions, Colours, Animals, and Social things to do.
